Short New York Visit

June 30, 2015

In my last post, I said I’ll be in New York for work and will get a chance to spend a couple of days with my family. It was such a great visit! I stayed with my cousin who has a 2 year old son. He is such a sweet cuddle bug.

On Sunday, we went to Captree State Park to go crabbing. The weather was perfect–not to hot, not to cold, with just the right amount of sun. It was my first crabbing experience and I learned SO much. For example, I didn’t know people use chicken as bait. We had 5 cages set up and kept busy checking each one. It was way more interesting and hands on than fishing. We ended up catching 53 crabs in 3 hours!! We steamed the crabs that night, and my cousin also made an awesome Korean meal with all of my favorites: seafood pancake, beef bulgogi, bbq pork, noodles, etc.

Fun Summer Nails!

June 27, 2015

IMG_1830 (1)

School is out, summer is here, and I am motivated to paint my nails again! I love pastel colors for summer, but I also love pinkish/red tints for all seasons. If you change your nail polish often, make sure to use nail polish and removers that do not have harsh ingredients. For example, most nail polish removers have acetone, which leads to dry and cracked nails. That is one of reasons I don’t like going to nail salons (I’m also a perfectionist and needs to make sure my nails are filed perfectly). I love Karma Organic Nail Polish Remover. It is soy based, non toxic, non carcinogenic, and free of any petroleum. It is super effective and only requires a few rubs to get everything completely removed. It is less than $12 on Amazon and the bottle lasts a LONG time. It took me over a year to go through my first bottle! It’s also important to apply cream or oil that hydrates and revitalizes the nails. Normally after I remove my nail polish, I apply essie apricot cuticle oil for a couple of days straight before I apply new nail polish.

June Stitch Fix

June 24, 2015

stitchfixjune15My June Stitch Fix box arrived a few days ago. It was my 6th box and the first time that I did not keep a single item. For those who have never heard of Stitch Fix, it is a personal styling service. You fill out a questionnaire about your style, size and price point, and a stylist will send you a box of items. You pay a $20 styling fee, but that is credited back into your account if you keep at least one item. You pay only what you decide to keep. Of course it’s best to keep at least one item so you don’t lose the $20 credit, but this month I just did not like anything enough to justify keeping it, so I sent everything back. Here is my review of this month’s box in the order of the picture above: Continue Reading…

Husband’s Favorite Recipe – Shrimp Alfredo

June 22, 2015

IMG_1988

It was my husband’s birthday this past weekend. Instead of going to a restaurant, he wanted me to make his favorite meal, Shrimp Alfredo, and to bake a chocolate cake together. This is a delicious recipe that I’ve been using for years, but I often change the vegetable around, so feel free to take out what you dislike and replace with your favorite vegetable. I was at the farmers market last weekend and picked up the zucchini and pepper, but in the past I’ve switched it up with mushroom, cauliflower, and spinach. You can also use other types of pasta. I had half a box of mostaccioli on hand, but you can also use penne, rotini, fettuccine, etc. Great side pairings include cheesy or garlic bread, guacamole bruschetta, and of course… chocolate cake 🙂 Hope you enjoy this recipe! Casual Summer Look

June 21, 2015

IMG_2018 (1)Puella North South Swing Tunic (size xs color orange), coco + jameson pleated laced shorts (size s), Steve Madden Seaside Wedge Sandal (color neutral), Anna Beck necklace

I am loving this summer look! It’s casual and comfortable, but also cute and girly. You can go super casual by pairing it with flats, or dress it up with heels and jewelry. The top is from Anthropologie. It is super soft and a loose fit. I love the colors; the neutral and tint of coral makes it easy to pair. The laced shorts is lined inside and is the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever worn! I tend to spend most of summer in flats, but I’m surprised how easy it is to walk in these wedges. You can wear them to work and then out at night. This is such an easy, effortless look that can be worn for numerous occasions this summer! Continue Reading…

Liebster Award!

June 18, 2015

liebster-award-logoI have been nominated for the Liebster Award by fellow blogger Emily at Always Emily. Thank you so much! I am so honored! Honestly I never thought maintaining a blog would take up so much time. I started my blog 3 weeks ago during the middle of finals and thought I’ll have more time during summer break, but it has been difficult with a full-time job. Most days I am up by 6m and don’t get home until 8 or 9pm. I’ve been working really hard on content and I’m so touched by the kindness of the blogging community. It has been so much fun discovering new blogs and making new friends. Thank you for the warm welcome! Continue Reading…
