Fun Summer Nails!

School is out, summer is here, and I am motivated to paint my nails again! I love pastel colors for summer, but I also love pinkish/red tints for all seasons. If you change your nail polish often, make sure to use nail polish and removers that do not have harsh ingredients. For example, most nail polish removers have acetone, which leads to dry and cracked nails. That is one of reasons I don’t like going to nail salons (I’m also a perfectionist and needs to make sure my nails are filed perfectly). I love Karma Organic Nail Polish Remover. It is soy based, non toxic, non carcinogenic, and free of any petroleum. It is super effective and only requires a few rubs to get everything completely removed. It is less than $12 on Amazon and the bottle lasts a LONG time. It took me over a year to go through my first bottle! It’s also important to apply cream or oil that hydrates and revitalizes the nails. Normally after I remove my nail polish, I apply essie apricot cuticle oil for a couple of days straight before I apply new nail polish.

The last few weeks I have been wearing the 6 colors pictured. A couple of them are old favorites, but the mini bottles are from the essie summer 2015 line. I purchased them in the smaller bottles because they were always out of stock at Target and online, but I finally found the mini sizes at Nordstrom. The pack comes with 4 colors, and I would highly recommend buying it because these colors are great. I like all of them except for the yellow. It’s a pretty color but is super streaky and requires at least 3 coats! I just don’t have the patience for that!

In general I think essie always have fun colors, but the quality isn’t always consistent. Like I said, I was not impressed by the yellow in the 4-pack, but the pert-a-surfer applied like a dream! Only one coat needed and the color is so pigmented! Peach side babe is a beautiful peach/coral, and looks almost exactly like essie tart deco (I wore this for an entire summer one year). I love the brushes on O.P.I nail polishes and the colors are long lasting. The true-aboriginal stayed on for 2 weeks with no chipping!! The picture looks red, but is actually a pinkish-red and is more pink in the sun. I also love BP maui wowie; it’s so easy to apply and is a beautiful bright pink that really pops. I received so many complements when I had it on!

Let me know what colors you’ve been wearing this summer. I’m always looking for new ones to add to my collection 🙂

I am flying out to NYC today. I am attending the Fancy Food Show on Monday, and I’m lucky that my company has allowed me to fly out early to spend time with my family this weekend. I am super excited to see my cousin and her son. Please follow “ditchtheheels” on Instagram because I’ll be posting lots of pictures from the trip! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
