Everyday Makeup Look for Work

June 14, 2015

I started a marketing internship last week, so I added a couple more items to my makeup routine to look more put together (versus when I used to only spend 5 minutes getting ready for school). I have been using most of these products for a while now, so they are also some of my favorite makeup products!

Benefit POREfessional is one of the best makeup primer. It minimizes my pores significantly and makes applying the rest of my makeup easier. The Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer keeps my eyelids from creasing. The one I’m wearing now is the colorless formula, but when I’m lazy and does not feel like putting on eyeshadow, I love just putting on the Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Champagne or the MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study.

My go-to foundation is the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. I wear the color chamomile. I absolutely LOVE this product and has been using it for a couple of years. It’s lightweight and oil free, and provides medium coverage. I’m surprised how well it covers up imperfection. I also love the matte look because I have extremely oily skin. While the SPF 15 does not replace sunscreen, it is an added bonus. I have tried other tinted moisturizers and BB creams with SPF protection, but they aren’t nearly as good as Jouer! I use Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder as a setting powder. I only use a little bit and it gives me an airbrushed look. Continue Reading…

Best Thick, Soft, and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

June 11, 2015

By popular demand, I am posting this delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. I have tried dozens of recipes in the past, but this is the one I keep going back to because of my strong preference for thick, soft, and chewy cookies. (From my previous job, I learned there is a 50/50 split between preference for chewy and chunky cookies. Hard to believe, I know!) Continue Reading…

Today I started a brand management internship at a CPG company. I wore a black dress from French Connection and dressed it up with a pink blazer from Eliza J and black pumps from Cole Haan. I love dress/blazer pairings because it’s often scorching hot outside in the summer but feels like a tundra at work with the AC cranked up. I brought along my Tory Burch purse which is big enough for a laptop. I kept the accessories light, and only wore a bracelet from BaubleBar.

Morning Skin Care Routine

June 5, 2015

Morning skin care

It is finally starting to feel like summer in Chicago, so I decided it’s time to change up my morning skin care routine. I am not particularly brand loyal when it comes to skin care because I love trying out new products, but some of my favorite brands that I go to again and again are Fresh, Boscia, Glamglow, Origins, and Josie Maran.

My morning skin care routine is pretty light. I’m usually in a rush and I also don’t want to put on too many products during the day. In general, there are four steps that I follow: cleanse, tone, treat, moisturize. Continue Reading…

I have always wanted to launch a beauty and lifestyle blog, but fear stopped me. There are amazing bloggers whom I admire and they’ve set an extremely high bar. My family and friends gave me the courage to pursue this passion, and I am thankful for their support.

Why Ditch the Heels? The name fits my personality and the content of this blog. Ditch the Heels is about effortless beauty, self-confidence, adventures and explorations, and bliss.

Why beauty and lifestyle? My friends often come to me for makeup and skincare advice, and I could spend hours talking to them about different products and applications. I have a curious mind and strong desire to learn new things so I am constantly looking up things, from ingredients found in beauty products to self-taught calligraphy for my wedding invitations. I have a deep passion in photography and travel, and I want to improve my photography skills by practicing through this blog. This blog will contain content that inspires me, and I hope to share with you the joy and happiness. Most of us are extremely busy in our everyday lives so we get stuck in a routine. I am guilty of letting weeks or even months go by without working on a project that excites me. This blog is a way of keeping me in check, and I hope it inspires you to make time to do something you love!

Thank you for coming to this blog and I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions! Please follow Ditch the Heels on Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and BlogLovin’ (all the links are in the icons)! You can also subscribe to new posts by email using the form on the sidebar.
