Short New York Visit

June 30, 2015

In my last post, I said I’ll be in New York for work and will get a chance to spend a couple of days with my family. It was such a great visit! I stayed with my cousin who has a 2 year old son. He is such a sweet cuddle bug.

On Sunday, we went to Captree State Park to go crabbing. The weather was perfect–not to hot, not to cold, with just the right amount of sun. It was my first crabbing experience and I learned SO much. For example, I didn’t know people use chicken as bait. We had 5 cages set up and kept busy checking each one. It was way more interesting and hands on than fishing. We ended up catching 53 crabs in 3 hours!! We steamed the crabs that night, and my cousin also made an awesome Korean meal with all of my favorites: seafood pancake, beef bulgogi, bbq pork, noodles, etc.

On Monday I went to the Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC. There were thousands of exhibitors and I got so full trying out all the food!! It was really interesting seeing all of the packaging innovation and the trend of natural, clean ingredients continue to dominate. There were also lots of food startups with interesting launch stories. It was also fun exploring the international section to see and taste products from all over the world! I was so busy eating that I forgot to take many  pictures, but here are the ones I did capture!
