Outfit Ideas for Work

July 29, 2015

outfitsforwork

Summer is flying by! I only have 2.5 weeks left of my summer internship and I realized I have not posted any work outfit ideas since my first day of internship! This post is not about where to purchase these items (since most of them I’ve had for a while), but more about giving you three different outfit pairing ideas. These are easy pairing so you should be able to find something in your closet to replicate these looks!

Classic Blouse and Skirt:

The blouse and skirt combination is classic and easy, but it doesn’t have to be boring. Even though I have a couple black skirts, I also have skirts in a variety of colors and prints. I love to wear a solid colored top with a fun skirt, for example in this photo a ruffled skirt with a zipper in the back. The key is to make sure the length is appropriate for work, especially if you work in a corporate setting! You can see another blouse and skirt example in this Instagram photo.

July Glossybox

July 26, 2015

IMG_2209

I recently received another box of Glossybox. For those who don’t know what is Glossybox, it is a beauty subscription box that costs $21 a month. This is a little pricer than other beauty subscription boxes, but it’s my favorite because it comes with larger sized samples. Here is my early impressions of the items I received in July:

hey honey I Peel Good Biomimetic Honey Peel Cream – This was a very interesting product! I applied it onto clean and dry face, massaged continuously for 3 minutes and then rinsed off. The product looks and feels like honey, so I was a worried while massaging because I have oily skin and worried this product will make my face even more oily. However, after rinsing off the product, my face felt soft and moisturized, and did not look greasy. This product provides moisture retention and enhances elasticity. While I do not see it as part of my weekly skincare routine, I plan to pack this on travel trips since my skin will need the extra hydration.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask – This was the highlight of this month’s box! Laneige is a Korean skincare brand I’ve heard of but had never tried until now. This product is an overnight hydrating mask so I did not apply a moisturizer prior to applying this mask. The texture is soft and light, which is very different compared to the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask that I typically use. However, the next morning my face still felt well moisturized. Since this is a lighter product, it is a good one to use during the summer. Along with the hey honey product above, I plan to pack this for my West Coast trip in September. Continue Reading…

15 Of My Favorite Feelings

July 23, 2015

Happy Thursday! It has been an extremely busy week as I was prepping for a presentation to our marketing leadership team. The presentation went well yesterday and the weekend is right around the corner, so life is great! I saw a video on Essie Button’s YouTube channel a while back about 15 Of My Favorite Feelings. I have been wanting to do a blog post about it because I found it to be super uplifting and it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I hope this will get you in a positive mindset, and I would love to hear your comments below on what are some of your favorite feelings!

15favoritefeelings

1. Kicking off my heels. This is one of the best feelings in the world. After a long day, it feels amazing to take off my shoes, wiggle my toes and give myself a simple foot massage.

2. Sleeping in. People who knows me well knows I LOVE to sleep. I love waking up naturally without an alarm and snuggling under my down comforter. Last quarter I purposely scheduled my classes to start at 1:30pm everyday so I was able to sleep in until 11am most days. I was spoiled and in for a rude awakening when summer started. I now have to wake up at 6:30am most days, but I look forward to getting in more sleep after my summer internship!

3. Cleaning. I love spending time on the weekends cleaning because when everything is vacuumed, wiped and organized, I feel like my life is back in order and I can start the week. It’s a great stress reliever knowing that I won’t have to come home to a cluttered space. Plus, who doesn’t love the smell of clean sheets???

4. Puppy love. It’s embarrassing how many dog accounts I follow on Instagram, but I just love seeing happy dogs and the love between a dog and its family. My favorite account is obviously @baltosf, which is my brother’s dog’s Instagram account! I cannot wait to see Balto in September and I hope he will love me back!

5. When you see a friend after a long time and nothing has changed. I have friends all over the country and although I’m unable to stay in touch or see them often, you know the friendship is strong when you don’t need to give constant validation, and when you see them again everything just clicks as if you haven’t been apart at all. One example is someone I met at a two day brand camp last summer. We clicked immediately and stayed in touch through texts. When we saw each other again almost a year later, we laughed and talked as if we have been friends for years.

Peachy Sunday

July 19, 2015

IMG_2254Dress: Bar III | Purse: Rebecca Minkoff | Belt: Target | Shoes: XOXO | Sunglasses: Cole Haan

Hope you’re all having a great Sunday! This weekend has just flown by. I spent Saturday working out, cleaning, running errands, and working. On Sunday, I went to brunch at a tiny neighborhood mom and pop restaurant, worked on a presentation I’m giving next week, went grocery shopping, and had dinner with a classmate. It has been extremely hot and humid in Chicago the last couple of days. I won’t complain since it’s either this or thunderstorms.

Today I decided to wear this peachy coral dress from Bar III. I’ve had it for a couple of years now and it’s one of my favorite dresses but I rarely wear it (no idea why!). This is also a great travel dress because it does not wrinkle! I love how feminine and simple it looks, yet so elegant and high quality. The laced back is also gorgeous. I decided to style it with a gold belt from Target, shoes from XOXO, and red purse from Rebecca Minkoff. I actually purchased this purse for my bridesmaids as a gift and loved it so much that I went back to Nordstrom to buy one for myself! Continue Reading…

Lip Essentials / MLBB Tag

July 17, 2015

IMG_2219

Thank you Nancy at Ok, Keep it Real for nominating me for the MLBB (My Lips But Better) Tag. Nancy is one of my best friends and we started blogging at about the same time, so please visit her blog 🙂 I was excited to do this tag because I love lip products. Not only do I keep my lips well hydrated and smooth, but I also love experimenting with different lipsticks. A pop of color on the lips help you look more put together even if you don’t wear makeup. Now lets talk about some of my favorites:

Sara Happ Lip Scrub – I have been using this product for years and have gone through so many of them. My favorites are the Vanilla Bean and Red Velvet flavors. They are so yummy and effective. I use this every other week to help exfoliate my lips. After each use, my lips feel extremely soft and smooth.

Vaseline Lip Therapy – I have talked about this product a couple of times now. The tin looks rusty because I’ve had it for over 2 years. I use it every day and there’s still some products left! The ones in store has a different packaging and when I purchased it recently I realized the formula is different! The one in the new packaging is very sticky and doesn’t seem as moisturizing. Unfortunately I cannot find the tin ones online anymore, but I have seen UK based bloggers post about the tin ones. Continue Reading…

5 Day Smoothie Challenge

July 15, 2015

I have been on a health kick recently, so it has been important to start my morning off with a healthy breakfast! Since my morning drive is over an hour long and I would rather spend an extra 20 minutes sleeping than eating at home, I have been making myself a healthy smoothie and drinking it on my drive to work. I challenge you to a 5 day smoothie challenge where you opt for the smoothie rather than an unhealthy snack or meal. Below are five of my favorite recipes. The first four can be meal replacements, and the last is a dessert smoothie. Warning: if you’re looking for the sugary stuff, these aren’t the best recipes for you. These contain raw vegetable, freshly frozen fruit, superfoods, etc, that will boost your energy and help with weight loss but are not the best recipes for beginners who are not used to raw ingredients. Feel free to share with me your favorite smoothie recipes–I am always looking for new ones to try!
