Monthly favorites are very common posts amongst beauty bloggers. I don’t think I’d be good at posting monthly favorites since most of my favorites tend to be the same every month, so I’m going to post product discoveries every month to review the new products I’ve tried. I have enough products in my inventory to last me a couple of years, so this is a good exercise to force myself to try products I already own rather than my habit of repurchasing favorites when I run low. Here are five items I used the entire month of July.
Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Matte Tinted Moisturizer – I purchased this item a year ago from a beauty spa and tried it a couple of times but stopped because of the low coverage. I was looking for medium coverage with SPF protection and this product didn’t do it for me. However, last month I took it out again and used it almost every day. Now I do not mind the low coverage because my skin has been clear for months. Sometimes I apply a concealer and powder, but most days this product is enough. If you have clear skin, this is the perfect product for summer! The only issue is that this product is pricey, I believe I purchased it for around $50, but you can save some money by replacing your morning moisturizer and SPF lotion with this item.
Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage – I’ve used the Clinique All About Eyes Rich cream for years, so when I saw that this product comes from the same product line and says “de-puffing,” I was sold. I get really puffy eyes in the morning so I’m always on the lookout for de-puffing eye products, but I was very disappointed with this item. The rollerball has a cooling effect, but I don’t see any change under my eyes after application, not even a brightening effect as claimed on the product description.
Mario Badescu Whitening Mask – The product description says “This hydrating mask will help brighten uneven skin tones and gently minimize the look of old acne scars and discolorations from the sun.” I use a few items that have a similar description so I cannot say how effective this is in brightening uneven skin tones. What I do know is how difficult it is to wash off! It sticks to the skin and this drives me crazy. I will finish using this product but won’t be repurchasing.
tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara – This mascara is amazing! I can see a huge difference in the length and volume of my lashes just after one application. Sometimes I apply it twice if I really want my eyes to pop. A few times I wore this for over 15 hours and I never saw any smudging, which happens a lot with other non-waterproof mascaras I’ve tried.
TIGI Bed Head Spoil Me – My hair gets frizzy during the summer, so last month I was looking for a product to help defrizz and smooth. I purchased this for about $17 from Target, but it does nothing that the description claims so I’m quite angry about wasting my money on it (and the fact it takes up SO much space!). The only thing it does do is add shine to my hair, so I have been spraying it on as a finishing product.
What products have you guys tried recently, and do you have any recommendations on an eye cream that depuffs and hair product that defrizzes? Please leave your comments below!
