Hiking and Eating Through Portland

Over the years I have heard many great things about Portland, and my first visit to this city did not disappoint. Ted and I had a great time hiking and eating through the Portland area. Here are some highlights from our trip!

Oswald West State Park Neahkahnie Mountain was about 3 miles with an elevation gain of 840 feet. The day we went the trail was practically empty!  Once we got to the top, the view was beautiful and we were able to see Neahkahnie Beach, Manzanita and the Pacific Ocean.

Columbia River Gorge was very busy with tons of tourists wanting to see Multnomah Falls. It was about a 3 hour hike to see the 4 falls in this area. My favorite part was looking down from Multnomah Falls. The picture really doesn’t do it any justice because you cannot see the depth of it! It was just breathtaking from the top of the falls.

We had some amazing food in Portland, but our favorites were from The American Local and Salt & Straw. The wait was about an hour at both places but it was well worth it! On our last day in Portland, we went to the famous Voodoo Doughnut. We were told that the wait would be at least 2 hours, but since we went in the middle of the day on a Tuesday, we didn’t have to wait at all! I would say the donuts were so-so, not worth a 2 hour wait, but definitely worth the visit during slow time.

We are in California right now. This is the part of our vacation I had looked forward to the most because my brother and his puppy live here. I will post about California soon (along with tons of puppy pictures)! I hope you’re all enjoying the last few days of summer!
