Back to School Outfit

September 25, 2015

DSC_0869Dress: Zara | Shoes: Topshop | Bag: Longchamp

I mentioned in my last post that school started last week. Even though I’m sad summer break is over, I am also so excited for my last year of graduate school!! The first week of school was awesome. We had pre-term course with our section mates and it was ssooo fun seeing everyone again!

Recently, I had a fun back to school photoshoot. Photo credit goes to my friend/classmate Spencer. Even though I’m back in school, it doesn’t mean I can go to school in my sweatpants like I did during my undergrad days! With full-time recruiting happening right now, most days there are coffee chats, company presentations and various networking events, so most of us have to look put together. My go-to look is an elegant dress and comfortable flats. Today I am wearing a dress from Zara and shoes from Topshop. The lace shoes became super popular over the summer, and it’ll continue to be popular this fall, so snatch these up before they are gone! The red and black are currently all sold out at Nordstrom, so you’ll need to order these directly from Topshop. Anthropologie also have these cute lace-up flats in several colors.

August and September 2015 Glossybox

September 22, 2015

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. Pre-term started last Tuesday, and I had my first final on Saturday. Regular classes started yesterday but I feel like I am still in summer mode!

With all of my travels in the last few weeks, I am way behind on my Glossybox post. I have both the August and September boxes to review. For those who don’t know what is Glossybox, it is a beauty subscription box that costs $21 a month. This is a little pricer than other beauty subscription boxes, but I love it because of the larger sized samples. I just placed my subscription on hold because I am interested in trying out a couple other beauty subscriptions, so I’ll be reviewing those in the upcoming months!

I was so excited to see City Cosmetics Complexion Perfecting Cream. It is an overnight cream that lighten dark spots, revitalize skin, combat dullness and address the appearance of blotchiness, blemishes, and discoloration. I have only tried it once so I don’t know if the product will do what it claims, but I really like the texture and it feels extremely hydrating. The sample size was large, and will probably last me a few months!

I have been using Glamglow products for years now, but I’ve never tried the mud to foam daily exfoliating cleanser, so it was such a delight to find this in the box! I haven’t used it yet but placed it in my travel box since it’s the perfect size to bring on a trip. This was my favorite item in the box! Continue Reading…

Effortless Beach Look, and Goodbye Summer!

I hope you’re all enjoying the last few days of summer. I am thrilled to have spent time in California before heading back to Chicago, where we only have about 20 days of fall and then 6 months of winter! These photos were taken at Lake Tahoe during sunset. The weather was perfect and the place was simply beautiful.

The summer flew by, and I am now back in Chicago finishing up my last year of graduate school. How are you guys spending your last few days of summer?? What are you looking forward to this fall?

Trek to Maggies Peak

September 14, 2015

During our visit to Lake Tahoe, we hiked to Maggies Peak. It was absolutely beautiful, but it was the toughest hike I’ve ever done! Maggies Peak is located in the Desolation Wilderness in West Lake Tahoe at 8,699 feet. The hike was about 2.5 hours straight uphill! On top of the peak, we were able to view Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, and Granite Lake.

My brother’s puppy, Balto, had a blast hiking with us. It was wagging its tail with tongue out the entire trip. It probably hiked 3x the distance as us because it kept running around chasing things. It was a long day of hiking, I logged close to 20,000 steps on my Fitbit! The hike was tough but it was a great sense of accomplishment at the end!

Hiking and Eating Through Portland

September 11, 2015

IMG_3286Cannon Beach, Oregon

Over the years I have heard many great things about Portland, and my first visit to this city did not disappoint. Ted and I had a great time hiking and eating through the Portland area. Here are some highlights from our trip!

Oswald West State Park Neahkahnie Mountain was about 3 miles with an elevation gain of 840 feet. The day we went the trail was practically empty!  Once we got to the top, the view was beautiful and we were able to see Neahkahnie Beach, Manzanita and the Pacific Ocean.

Speechless for Seattle

September 8, 2015

My husband, Ted, and I are absolutely in love with Seattle! It was our first visit to this breathtaking city and it exceeded every expectation. I love the energy of the city and everything a big city has to offer, and I love the countless getaway options when one needs some peace and quiet. Here are some highlights from our trip:

Day 1:

We stayed two nights at the W in downtown Seattle. The W is in a fantastic location–walking distance to restaurants, shops, Pike Place Market, etc. We explored Pike Place Market, had a late lunch with Ted’s cousin at Japonessa Sushi, watched the Minnesota Gopher football game, and had dinner with another cousin at Din Tai Fung, an amazing restaurant specializing in xiaolongbao. There are a few locations worldwide, with one of the restaurants awarded one Michelin Star. There were 8 of us at dinner and we ordered family style, so I got to try at least 15 different dishes! We ended the night with Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream.
