Happy Friday! For those new to my blog, every month I write about new beauty discoveries instead of monthly favorites. My favorites don’t change very often, but I am constantly trying new products so this gives me an opportunity to talk about new items I am trying out. I try to use these discoveries for the entire month in order to write a fair review. Here are the products I used all of January:
Shiseido Perfect Whip Foam Cleanser – My friend Tracy gave me this product because she knows I love foamy cleansers. This is similar to the Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash, except much cheaper! I have been using it with my Clarisonic and it creates this soft, rich foam that removes all makeup and leaves my face soft. It’s only $8.99 on Amazon but I heard it’s even cheaper in Asia. I cannot wait to stock up on this when I travel to Taiwan next month!
Make Up For Ever Primer – I have tried more than 10 high end primers and this is by far my favorite. I love that this line has different formulas for different skin type or needs. There are 10 formulas focused on texture or tone. The one I love is the mattifying primer which is perfect for oily skin. It hides my pores and is the most mattifying primer I have ever tried!
Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation SPF 15 – I had this item on my wishlist for almost half a year before purchasing it during my Sephora Haul last December. Even though it is a full coverage foundation, it looks very natural on my skin. I have not tested it for a 12-hour wear, but my makeup stays on very well throughout the day and does not need any blotting. I have started to purchase more Tarte products in the last 6 months, and I love everything I’ve purchased. This is a great brand, and its mascara, foundation and blush are now some of my favorites in its categories.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal Glow On The Go – During the holidays I was able to purchase the limited edition which contained a small size of the shimmering skin perfector in both liquid and pressed form for just $20. This was such an amazing deal because if purchased separately in the large size, it’d cost $79! Both the pressed powder and liquid can be used for the same things. The liquid can highlight or be combined with foundation for a more radiant look. You can also highlight with the pressed powder, or sweep it all over the face for that extra glow. This was my first time experimenting with highlighters and I love it! Since I have oily skin, I like to use mattifying primer and foundation, but I use the highlighter on targeted areas, such as cheekbones, brows and bridge of my noses, to give my face a dewy look.
Julep Skip the Brush Blush Desert Rose – This is a creme to powder stick that works on the cheeks, lips, and eyes. I have only been using it on my cheeks and it is the most beautiful dusty rose color. It’s very easy to apply and blend with my fingers. I love that I don’t need to use a brush or beautyblender with this product.
I love all of my January beauty discoveries! These are now some of my favorite products! Leave in the comments what new products you’ve tried recently.
Also, did you know that Chinese New Year is coming up?? It’ll be year of the Monkey! I will be eating delicious Chinese food with some of my classmates this weekend. I wish all of you a Happy Chinese New Year 🙂
